Sri Lanka

Expedition Sri Lanka is a 8D7N trip to Sri Lanka to explore the natural attractions including world-famous UNESCO World Heritage sites like Sigiriya Lion Rock, as well as to immerse ourselves in their country and culture.

The treks will take place at various locations throughout Sri Lanka and these are the attractions we are going to: Sigiriya Lion Rock, Pidurangala Rock, Little Adam’s Peak, Ella Rock, Lipton’s Seat

Apart from the trek, we will be visiting Dambulla Cave Temple and Temple of the Tooth. We will also be going for a safari jeep tour in Udawalawe National Park to bask in the nature and see animals in their natural habitat. In Kitulgala, we will go for a white water rafting adventure along Kitulgala river.

Join us for this 8D7N adventure before the start of another school semester!

It will be a 8D7N trek from 4 August to 11 August 2018. However, the flight is on 3 August. We will meet at Changi Airport at 2130HRS on 3 August and arrive back to Changi Airport at 2105HRS on 11 August.

1) Pidurangala Rock – about 2km from Sigiriya Lion Rock, it is the best viewing spot of the majestic rock before we embark on the climb. It is also a popular spot for sunrise as you can enjoy 360-degree views of not only the valleys but also Sigiriya Rock. This trek will take about 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes.

2) Sigiriya Lion Rock –  probably one of the most famous attractions of Sri Lanka, Sigiriya Lion Rock is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site and is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning. Expect to immerse in the rich history and culture of the country as you climb the steps to the top. Expect to spend the entire afternoon here as it will be crowded and it will take about 3-4 hours.

3) Little Adam’s Peak – Named after it’s big brother Adam’s Peak because of it’s similar shape, Little Adam’s Peak is a short trek near Ella town. We will be climbing this to see the sunset and it is expected to take about an hour and a half.

4) Ella Rock – Ella Rock is a famous cliff and its trail offers stunning views across the hill country and the plains. It will be one of the more strenuous treks in our trip. Expect to take about 4 hours in total and we will walk an approximate distance of about 8 km.

5) Lipton’s Seat – Probably one of the more underrated and undiscovered locations in Sri Lanka, Lipton’s Seat offers an amazing view of the tea plantations and the plains across the town of Haputale. We will be driving up to the location and then descending down by foot so that we can immerse in the nature of Sri Lanka. The descent will take about 2 hours.

Aside from the treks above, we will also be visiting Dambulla Cave Temple in Dambulla, Temple of the Tooth in Kandy and various tea plantations/factories to immerse ourselves in the Sri Lankan culture. We will also experience a jeep safari tour at Udawalawe National Park to look at wildlife and also do whitewater rafting at Kitulgala.

Most treks are about 3-3.5/5. There will be about 2 sunrise/sunset treks and 3 day treks.

The trails are mostly well-paved and there are signages to guide us, so the treks themselves won’t be much of a problem. However, we are doing a lot of walking over a few days, so a certain level of fitness and endurance is expected!

The cost of the trek is $977 (Non-members)/ $930 (Members).

It includes everything from transportations to accommodation and entry ticket to attractions. Do note that meals are not included in the cost.
