The trip is from 12 to 14 June (3D2N). We set off from Singapore at 10.00 pm (12 June) and arrive back in Singapore at 7.30 pm (14 June).
Where is Rainbow Falls?
Sungai Lembing is located approximately 45 km northwest of Kuantan, in Pahang, Malaysia. A tin mining town from the late 1880s to 1986, the town once boasted the second richest tin deposit in the world after Bolivia. Now a sleepy little town with quaint tints of the past, it is famous for various attractions such as Bukit Panorama and the popular Rainbow Falls.
What is the itinerary like?
Day 1: Bus trip to Sungei Lembing
Day 2: Arrival in Sungei Lembing Riverview Resort > Breakfast > Trek to Rainbow Falls (enlisted help of local guide, trek ~ 6 hours) > Wash up at resort > Bike trip around Sungei Lembing> Dinner
Day 3: Early morning call > cycle and trek up Bukit Panaroma (trek ~1.5hr) > Sunrise > Head down for breakfast > Wash up > Bus trip back to Singapore
What is the difficulty rating of this trek?
1.5 out of 5 stars. The treks to rainbow falls and up Bukit Panaroma are about 1.5 – 2hrs each.
As we will be cycling around Sungei Lembing, participants are expected to be proficient in cycling.
*Participants are expected to do their own research for the trek and make sure that they are physically fit for the trip. .
How long are the various travel times?
The bus ride from Singapore to Malaysia, Sungei Lembing will be approximately 7 hours. We depart from Singapore at 10.00 pm (12 June) and arrive in Malaysia, Sungei Lembing at 5.00am (13 June). Similarly, we depart from Malaysia, Sungei Lembing at 10.00am (14 June) and arrive in Singapore at 7.30pm (14 June).
How much does this trip cost? What does the cost include?
The cost of this trek is $150. Members of NUS Rovers are eligible for a $5 discount. The cost will cover the transport (bus tickets to Malaysia, Sungei Lembing and back to Singapore), accommodation (Sungei Lembing Riverview Resort), guides (Rainbow Falls) and bike rental.
Please note that cost does not include travel insurance and food. Participants are to send their insurance purchase receipt to us upon request.
How is this trek different from the others?
This one day trek caters to those looking for a short respite from the hustle and bustle of city life in Singapore. Those looking to get in touch with nature would find this trek highly rewarding. Expect an awesome trekking experience that will bring you to see a naturally occurring rainbow at a waterfall, a biking trip around Sungei Lembing (expect to see interesting sights!) and witness the breath-taking sunrise from Bukit Panorama.
What is so special about Rainbow Falls?
Past visitors to Rainbow Falls describe the sight of the waterfall with the colourful arch of rainbow as ‘magical’. Besides, this is the only trek where you get to see a naturally occurring rainbow at a waterfall.
Will there be a local guide?
We have enlisted the help of a local guide for the trek to Rainbow Falls.
Where will we be spending our nights?
We will be staying at Sungei Lembing Riverview Resort.
How and where will we be having our meals?
Participants are expected to have dinner before the bus ride from Singapore to Malaysia, Sungei Lembing.
Upon arrival at Sungei Lembing (approximately 5am), we will have breakfast. There, lunch will be packed and brought along with us on our trek to Rainbow Falls. Participants can opt to bring along snacks such as nuts or energy bars for the trek.
For dinner, we will be visiting the local hawker centre. Participants can expect famous dinner places such as the Ah Feng Yong Tau Foo store, Noodle House and Restoran Satay Warisan.
Will there be shower facilities?
Yes, when we arrive at the waterfall.
Just kidding. We will be heading back to our resort to wash up after our trek to Rainbow Falls before setting off on a biking trip around Sungei Lembing.
Will there be a refund in the event that the trek is cancelled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances?
There will be no refund of participation fees in the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. As safety is our utmost priority, we reserve the right to cancel the trek at any point in time if we feel that the inclement weather/unforeseen circumstances might compromise the safety of our participants.
What should I do if I am unable to attend to pre-trek briefing?
