When is this trip?

The trip will be held on 27 December 2014 (day trip). We set off from Singapore at 5:00am and arrive back in Singapore at 11:30pm.

Where is Gunung Belumut exactly?

Gunung Belumut (Mount Belumut) is located at Kluang town in the state of Johor, Malaysia.

How much does this trip cost? What does the cost include?

The cost of this trek is $98. Members of NUS Rovers are eligible for a $5 discount. The cost will cover transport, hiking permit, guides, entrance fees and insurance.

How many participants will there be on this trek?

There will be 20 participants on this trek.

What is the itinerary like in one sentence?

 Standing at 1010m, trekking Gunung Belumut would appeal to those seeking a good challenge that is not overly time-consuming nor too far away from home. 

Will there be a local guide?

We have enlisted the help of two local guides for the trek.

How difficult is this trek? How fit do I have to be to climb Gunung Belumut? 

Moderate fitness and mountain hiking experience are recommended. Beginners who wish hike this mountain should be comfortable with walking on slopes for prolonged hours. Some parts of the climb may be steep, and will require you to get your hands dirty. Other mountains in the same difficulty range would be Mount Ophir and Mount Nuang.

What health considerations should I keep in mind? 

Participants are strongly advised to consult his/her medical practitioner prior to the registration of the trek to certify his/her fitness and to be immunized against diseases such as tetanus.

How and where will we be having our meals?

As we will not be stopping over for breakfast, please do pack along your breakfast and lunch. We will be having lunch at the summit of Gunung Belumut and dinner at Kluang town at our own expenses, so please be reminded to bring some cash along. 

Will there be shower facilities?

Yes, there are basic shower facilities at the base of Gunung Belumut so do bring along those mini shampoos, body wash and a towel (We will give you a recommended packing list)!

Will there be a refund in the event that the trek is cancelled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances? 

There will be no refund of participation fees in the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. As safety is our utmost priority, we reserve the right to cancel the trek at any point in time if we feel that the inclement weather/unforeseen circumstances might compromise the safety of our participants. 

What if I have paid for the trek but am unable to make it? 

Withdrawal upon the request of the participant is subjected to the following conditions:

Case 1: Until 15 days before start of expedition

You will receive a 50% refund.

Case 2: Within 15 days to start of expedition

Strictly no refund.

Case 3: Medically unfit with production of Medical Certificate.

You will receive a 25% refund.

Any other cases will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The refund is subject to approval of the appointed Trek ICs.

What should I do if I am unable to attend to pre-trek briefing?

Please send a representative to take notes for you. Important information will be disseminated so please try not to miss the briefing!
