Mt Ophir 1 Day Trek FAQ!

When is the trek?

It will be a one-day trek on 3rd July 2018. We will meet early in the morning – 0300HRS@NUS University Hall, and be back in NUS at night at approximately 2130HRS.

Where is Mt Ophir?

Mt Ophir, also known as Gunung Ledang, is located at the northwest end of Johor, Malaysia, in Tangkak district. It is the highest peak in Johor at 1276m.

What is the difficulty rating of this trek?

The difficulty of the trek is about 3/5. We are expected to take around 8 hours to finish!

Of course, having a reasonable amount of fitness would definitely help and you can start training by simply climbing stairs!

What is the brief itinerary?

0300 – Assemble at NUS

0330 – Chartered Bus Pick Up

0400 – Arrival at Woodlands Check Point

0730 – Arrival at Base of Mt Ophir

1300 – Reach Mt Ophir Summit

1700 – Back at Base of Mt Ophir

1730 – Bus Pick Up from Mt Ophir

2130 – Arrival at NUS / Dismissal

What about meals throughout the day?

Meals are not included. Participants are expected to bring your own food (enough for breakfast and lunch) and water (at least 1.5 litres or more) along for the trek. Along the various checkpoints, we can stop for a quick bite. Dinner will be after dismissal.

Will there be a local guide?

We have chartered a bus and enlisted local guides for the hike up Mt Ophir.

How many participants will be on this trek?

We have 5 committee members and 20 of you will be coming along on this trek!

How much is the trip? What does the cost include?

The cost of the trek is $63 (Non-members)/ $60 (Members).

It includes the Chartered Bus from NUS to Mt Ophir and back, the mandatory hiking permits and local guide fees.

Meals and drinks before and after the hike are not included.
