Rinjani Trek FAQ!
When is the trip?
This trip is from 19th July 2017 to 24th July 2017 (6D5N). We will be meeting at Changi Airport on 19th July at 0330, and arrive back in Singapore at around 1700 on 24th July.
Where is Mt Rinjani? Where will we be visiting?
Mt Rinjani is an active volcano located on the island of Lombok in Indonesia. The highlights of the trek includes the summit at 3726m, hotspring, crater rim and lake. We will also be visiting Tiu Kelep waterfall near Senaru Village.
To get to Lombok, we will be flying to Denpasar Bali and travelling on land via bus and fast boat. We will also get to spend some time in Lombok and Bali for rest and relax.
What is the difficulty rating of this trek?
This trip is rated 4/ 5. This trek requires a high level of fitness to reach the summit and strong perseverance for completing the trek. Hence, participants have to be physically and mentally prepared. (There is no giving up!!!) Don’t be turned off by the difficulty! We’ve seen 12 year old kids reaching the summit!
How's the weather like?
July is the dry season and the weather is perfect to trek Rinjani with temperatures ranging from 5 to 24 degrees celsius. At the Mt Rinjani summit, temperatures can be as low as 2 degrees celsius. Warm clothings is an absolute must.
Where will we spend our nights?
Of the 5 nights, the first night will be spent in Senggigi, Lombok. During the trek, 2 nights will be in tents on Mt Rinjani(Crater Rim/Lake). After the trek, we will head back to Senggigi, Lombok to rest for another night before heading back to Bali for our last night.
Will there be a local guide?
We have enlisted a local agency to provide the guides, transport and accommodation.
How many participants will be on this trek?
We have 5 committee members and can bring a maximum of 15 participants on the trek.
What is the brief itinerary?
Day 1: Flight to Bali and travel from Denpasar to Lombok Island via bus and fast boat.
Day 2: Start of Mt Rinjani Trek.
Day 3: Mt Rinjani Summit Push, trekking to Crater Lake and Hot Springs.
Day 4: End of Mt Rinjani Trek. Trek to Tiu Kelep Waterfalls.
Day 5: Travel from lombok to Kuta, Bali via bus and fast boat. RnR.
Day 6: Flight back to Singapore.
How much is the trip? What does the cost include?
The cost of the trek is $750. It includes airfare, all land(bus)/sea(fastboat) transport, accommodation, permits, guide and meals for the 3D2N Mt Rinjani trek (20th July L/D, 21st July B/L/D, 22nd July B/L). Members of NUS Rovers are eligible for a $5 discount. You will however have to bring your own money for the rest of the meals and other personal expenses.
Can I purchase my own airfare?
No. Tickets will be booked in advance to minimise costs. See you at Changi Airport!
How is this trek different than the others?
The trek involves a unique 3Days 2night camping experience on an active volcano. During the trek, you will be able to witness spectacular sunset and sunrises above the clouds!
What about inclement weather?
Decision will be made on the ground with the guide to see whether it is safe to continue! If it is of course we would go for it! But remember safety first!! In the event of rain, please be prepared to waterproof your gear and yourself. We will continue the trek if it is not too dangerous.
