GUNUNG ARONG FAQ
When is the trip?
It will be a 2 Day 1 Night trip from 20th July 2019 to 21st July 2019. We will be meeting at 0600HRS on 20/07/19 at Kranji MRT. We will arrive back in JB Sentral on 21/07/19 at 1700HRS. From there, you can either make your way back to Singapore or extend your stay in Malaysia.
Where are we going?
This time, we will bring you to Gunung Arong, one of the most popular hikes near Singapore! Even though the summit is only 275m, Gunung Arong promises an incredible view of the South China Sea!
Will this trek be difficult?
We are rating this trek 1/5. If kids can climb it, you can do it too!
How much is it and what does it include?
This trip will cost $100 for NUS Rovers Members and $106 for non-members. (Learn more about membership here if you would like to sign up!)
The price includes return transport from JB Sentral to Gunung Arong, 1 night camping, sea kayaking, guides and meals as stated in the itinerary. All other costs shall be borne by you.
What is not included?
Travel Insurance – NUS provides travel insurance for NUS students ONLY. For students with pre-existing medical conditions, we advise you to purchase your own travel insurance for better coverage. Non-NUS students are responsible in getting their own travel insurance.
Anything else that are not mentioned in the itinerary such as food, shopping expenses and expenses during free time.
How is the trip like?
Day 1: We will meet at Kranji MRT at 0600HRS. We will then cross over to Johor and board our chartered transport to Mersing where Gunung Arong is located at. We will set up our tents before our Nature Education Programme. After lunch, you will have some free and easy time to explore the place before going sea kayaking! After dinner, there will be a night walk under the stars too (hopefully). (LD)
Day 2: We will wake up early for our Gunung Arong sunrise hike (2.5 hours up). Then, we will head down for lunch and have some free time at the beach before leaving Mersing for Johor. We will dismiss at JB CIQ. (BL).

Will there be a local guide?
Yes, we have engaged 2 local guides for this trek.
You will be traveling with 5 committee members and 15 other participants! There are only 15 slots and they run out fast so don’t hesitate and sign up now!
How different is this trek?
Apart from being our last Malaysia trek for this Summer, why not take this opportunity to take a break before the new semester starts! This perfect weekend getaway literally give you 2 days of fun, sand, sea – perfect for a recharge!
