When is the trip?
This trip is from 30th December 2016 to 6th January 2017 (8D7N). We will be meeting at Changi Airport on 30th December at 2pm, and arrive back in Singapore on around 6:30pm on 6th January.
Where will we be visiting?
Explore 3 provinces in Thailand with a well-rounded adventure experience! To start off, we’ll do some light trekking exploring Chiang Dao and Chiang Dao Caves. Then, we’ll scale up Doi Luang Chiang Dao, Thailand’s third highest peak at 2225m and soak in the magnificent sunrise and sunset on the mountains. The next day, get ready for an exciting whitewater rafting adventure down the rapids of the Mae Taeng River before chilling out on bamboo rafts. That’s not all, as we visit the beautiful 7-tiered Erawan Falls, trekking up to the top tier. Here, we can make a splash as we swim under the waterfalls, there is even a natural fish spa at the first tier to enjoy!
What is the difficulty rating of this trek?
This trip is rated 3.5 / 5 . While the climb up Doi Luang Chiang Dao may be a little challenging, we will be spreading it out over a course of 2 days along with ample breaks slotted in between, which makes it manageable, even for beginners! Confidence in water will allow you to fully enjoy the thrill our water rafting and waterfall trekking has to offer! We guarantee a 5 / 5 fun rating!
How's the weather like?
In Chiang Dao, the weather will be cooler due to the high altitude, around 15 degrees on the summit of Doi Luang Chiang Dao, which may dip lower at night. Layering for the cold weather is a must!
Where will we spend our nights?
Our nights will be comfortably spent at guesthouses in Chiang Dao and Bangkok, 2 nights on an overnight train and 1 (and probably the best) night camping on the mountain under a blanket of stars!
Will there be a local guide?
Yes, our treks in Chiang Dao will be led by local guides, yay!
How many participants will be on this trek?
We will be having a total of 15 participants and 3 committee members on the trek.
What is the brief itinerary?
Day 1 (30th Dec) : Arrive in Bangkok, transfer to Chiang Mai via overnight train
Day 2 (31st Dec): Transfer to Chiang Dao accommodation, lunch, then exploration of Chiang Dao, including Chiang Dao Caves. Countdown together woohoo!
Day 3 (1st Jan) : 2D1N trek on Doi Luang Chiang Dao. Sunset viewing! Tonight, we’ll be camping on the mountains.
Day 4 (2nd Jan) : Sunrise viewing! Descend Doi Luang Chiang Dao. Rest for the day or explore around Chiang Dao.
Day 5 (3rd Jan) : Water rafting at Mae Taeng river. Tonight, we’ll be taking an overnight train to Bangkok.
Day 6 (4th Jan) : Waterfall trek at Erawan Waterfall in Kanchanaburi.
Day 7 (5th Jan) : Bangkok field expedition! A day of shopping, eating and sightseeing!
Day 8 (6th Jan) : We will have an early lunch in Bangkok before heading home.
How much is the trip? What does the cost include?
The estimated cost of this trek is S$720 (dependent on airfare price).The cost of the trip will include all accommodations, airfare, train ticket, insurance, meals on the trek, and all activities stated in the itinerary, excluding personal expenses. Participants are advised to bring sufficient funds for personal expenses.
How is this trek different than the others?
This trek will be more technical than the others, but also offers a variety of trekking and water activities! Fitted with an outdoor camping experience and exploring around 3 states of Thailand, are you not excited yet?
